D: Just because I don’t bake often…

… doesn’t mean I can’t.

I made this cake for K’s birthday. It was an olive oil cake from How to Cook Everything — it was spiced with just a bit of fresh clementine juice in both the cake and the frosting.

The dough was very strange — there’s very little liquid, so it almost has the consistency of cookie dough until you fold in a whole bunch of whipped egg white. Then it becomes slightly more cake-batter consistency, but it’s still pretty thick.

The cake itself turned out ok; it wasn’t my favourite cake in the entire world, but there was nothing inherently wrong with it. There was just nothing particularly special about it, either. It was fun to practice my decorating skills, though:
