D: And while we’re on the subject…
Real truffles. For eight hundred dollars a pound. And the white Italian truffle (the best truffle in the world) sells for thousands of dollars per pound.
Now, I must confess: I have never once eaten a truffle. I don’t even really know what one is, except that it’s sortof like a mushroom, and you have to use pigs to find them.
But let me just say — and perhaps this is presumptuous of me — if I’m going to pay $800 for a pound of food (any food), then that food had better be able to, you know, grant me super-powers.
I haven’t had truffles, but I have had truffle oil on top of butternut squash bisque…yum. I hear it’s quite affordable if you can find it at Trader Joe’s, but I’ve never been able to personally verify that.
