K: Comfort Foods
Sometimes there are days that you just want something that reminds you of your childhood. Now, there are only a few foods that I strongly associate with my childhood, mostly because many of the other foods we still cook. So meals like spaghetti and baked chicken don’t stand out strongly, but artichoke bread and jambalaya do.
Today, however, I had a hankering for Kraft Mac and Cheese. This was an easy meal we typically did when my dad was out of town, and there’s something really tasty about it in my memory. College almost ruined it for me – Easy Mac is a very different product – but I decided it was time to try it out again. (As a note, I probably haven’t had Kraft Mac and Cheese since early high school when my dad took over meals. And D refuses to have it in the house, probably because of the orange cheese.)
And you know what? It was delicious.
I love Kraft mac and cheese. Just looking at that blue box makes me happy!
What? But… how? I thought you liked, you know, food?
Hey now, be nice. A blue box can be nice sometimes! (But don’t worry – we’re not going to start having it on a regular basis. =] )
I went wine tasting on Sunday. Bought a bottle of wine that the vintner said went well with grilled cheese sandwiches. Bet it would go well with Kraft mac n cheese too!
I can’t really picture drinking wine with a grilled cheese sandwich, but that could be good!
I’ll wait to open until you’re here!
